We set out to help rebuild a community after the most devastating natural disaster hit the Philippines. We brought emergency aid to the people of Sulangan, built a boat, donated clothing and food and rebuilt a school. Now that most of the village of Sulangan is rebuilt we still want to continue to help make a difference.
Project Sulangan believes that Education is Power in Poverty. After much discussion, we have decided that as a charity, going forward we will focus on providing and improving education for children in the Philippines. This means that Project Sulangan will reach out to the unreachable villages in the Philippines and help to make a difference by rebuilding and building schools, donating educational supplies and funding education. At the end of 2014 we set ourselves a challenge… That challenge was to run the Sheffield Half Marathon on the 12th April 2015 and then one week later to run the Manchester Marathon on the 19th April 2015. We would combine these 2 events to raise money for not only Project Sulangan, but for Macmillan Cancer support. Macmillan are a charity which supports those families whose loved ones are battling cancer and it is a charity that is very close to our heart and the heart of a very dear friend who lost her mum to cancer.
